Everything you see has a story

I found this sandal on the beach a week or two back, and for some strange reason I took a picture of it…  Today as I was going through pics, I stopped at this one again and just studied it… I let my mind go, and suddenly it was full of questions…

Who lost this sandal? (assuming that it’s a girl because it’s small and pink) What kind of person is she? What does she like to do?  Where does she live (close by I assume because it is a Buffalo Bills sandal I believe)  What was she doing at the moment this sandal drifted away? Was she having fun? Each question brings forth more.. When did she lose it? How old is she now? Was she with her parents? Or was she with some of her friends?

That’s when it came to me that everything you see – has a story…  A lowly piece of driftwood stuck in the sand and polished clean by the tides, started out somewhere else.  What happened to it that it ceased being a living tree, to becoming a small decaying piece of what it once was?  Did it come from across the lake? Or just up the beach a few miles? Did a storm take it down? Or just old age?  These are questions to stories we’ll never know…
The same holds true for people too… Everyone you know, everyone you see, has a story, a hidden story… We all project a “safe shell” for others to see, but what’s on the inside remains hidden…  Before judging someone for what they do, or how they act and react. Keep in mind that there is a reason for everything and that there is a part of them that is hidden, a story that you don’t know, a story that you will probably never know.  Be nice, be kind, don’t be hasty to judge, just accept people as they are – after all, you’re one of them too, and I believe we all share the same aspirations.  We all want to be wanted, need to be needed, and love to be loved…
